linkalicious

whaaaa??

i got this yesterday and it was pretty freakin' funny. apparently one of the chapel hill comics dudes laughed so hard he cried while reading it. i didn't laugh quite that hard myself, but it was definitely a good read.

speaking of comics, here's an interview w/ brian k. vaughn (writer of y the last man, runaways, etc) at the onion av club (whose latest redesign is slightly annoying).

christina already linked to this but i think it bears repeating: jon wurster is hilarious. i am pretty bummed to be missing tomorrow's superchunk show (and i have a ticket if anyone needs one!).

  2. hee. i just miss the OLD design, where all the reviews were on one page and i could skim them, whereas now i have to click EVEN MORE to get to content (like the music reviews in brief thing, which is now a separate page as well, instead of being at the bottom of the main music reviews page). i just end up skipping everything except savage love, these days.

good call. all that clicking sucks. the page also takes longer to load now. but it looks as though the av club is movin' on up, which is encouraging, b/c it's one of the best review sites on the web.

same old av club, though: the first line of of the review for "stealth" reads, "a sort of retarted 'top gun'..."

speaking of superchunk, i am hella pissed that they haven't played a show since 2002 i think, and then they go and play 2 at the cradle while i'm in dc. those fuckers. maybe they played once in between then, i'm not sure.

  6. they played at mergefest last summer . . . and they played at local 506 at a tsunami benefit this fall. so you're just not trying hard enough, jordon!

pinky--i am jealous that you know him! he's the only superchunk person i haven't met/had an extended conversation with.

oh yeah. oops. well, i remember those times. i remember that at mergefest there were so many great bands, but since i'm poor i could only choose one band. so i chose lambchop b/c they were the only band there that were at the top of my list that i had never seen before. also, i was on this big lambchop kick at the time. i think i was working or something the night of the tsunami benefit, but i remember that there were lots of bands playing, so i figured superchunk would only play a handful of songs, so i wouldn't be able to worship laura completely. excuses, excuses...please headbang extra in my absence.

i agree that jon wurster is a card.
