  1. Buttermilk is good in mashed potatoes and cornbread.

  2. i've been watching a lot of food network shows, including one called "calorie commando"... he's always using buttermilk in recipes. (i had no idea it was so calorie-friendly.) you might want to search foodnetwork.com for buttermilk recipes.

also recipezaar.com is a great online recipe site where you can search by ingredient.

I don't know if you're veggie (I just read your blog for the first time today), but if you are not, try marinating chicken parts in buttermilk before lightly breading and baking. Yum. My mom told me to do this, but she got it from Martha Stewart. Judge her how you may, the woman can cook buttermilk chicken!

  5. thanks for the tip, ms shapiro, but i am actually a vegetarian. :) (anyway, i'm jewish, so i couldn't cook chicken in buttermilk even if i did eat chicken).

i'll find a use for my buttermilk soon!

i have no beef with martha--she has a pretty cool magazine, but a lot of her projects are too time-comsuming for my taste.

    thanks for reading (and commenting)!!
