veronica mars season 2!

hey, i think season 2 is going to be totally awesome! season one is out on dvd on october 11th!

yay for classy and sassy tv heroines.

did all you ANTM fans stay tuned in? i decided that show is a good prelude to veronica mars and so now i will be watching that every week, too. man, that lisa girl is annoying. and as someone who also has a rosemary's baby-haircut and loooves it, that one little whiny girl was making me nuts. i like the big-haired girl though!

hey, as long as i'm blogging about tv, i'll throw this out there: i can't figure out if some tv characters are badly written, or if they're supposed to be unlikable. i'm mainly thinking about rory from the gilmore girls, who is an unsufferable snot these days, and jack and kate from lost, who are self-righteous and obnoxious (and although that show has plenty of excellent cast members, i'm totally watching veronica mars in that time slot. thank goodness for reruns, dvds, and twop to keep me up to date!). am i the only person who wishes these characters would either a) have smaller parts (in the case of lost), or b) go back to being endearing nerds (that one is rory)?

Just watched the season premiere of VM on the Tivo. Best thing I've seen on TV in quite a while.

i agree! i was worried season 2 could never be as awesome as season one, but it was quite a good start.

In the case of Gilmore Girls, I think the writers have gotten way off track with Rory. Her whiny, spoiled behavior is supposed to be endearing, I think, but it's hard to feel sorry for someone who steals a yacht and then mopes about having to do community service.

I miss the Rory who liked to read, liked her friends, and didn't care so much about being constantly lauded by all who surround her.

EXACTLY! the whole reason i like the early seasons is b/c of rory--interestingly, i used to think lorelai was sort of annoying, and now her character is what's keeping me interested. the whole rory-being-seduced-by-the-rich-world plot isn't doing anything for me--and for once i would like to see her get dumped on her ass like a real girl--she's so magical and wonderful that even logan, who doesn't date seriously, is willing to be her boyfriend.
making rory a yale dropout just seems so offbase for her character--wouldn't she try and find some other major, or something? what the hell.

i personally think that rory should be taken off camera and shot the next time she says "LO-gan." and what's up with her suddenly overcoming adversity and being a model community servant? there are so many good things about that show, but she ruins almost every episode for me.

i'm so glad to hear your positive review of the newest vm. i haven't had a chance to watch it yet, and i've been a little worried that it wouldn't be as good without the big mystery. but it sounds like it was.

yeah, i think there's a lot of potential in the veronica mas premiere for a great second season--obviously it won't have the same emotional impact as the lilly kane thing, but it looks like there's a lot going on. dick and the beav are regular cast members now and the new recurring guests look pretty interesting, too. i'm pretty pleased! yay!

but seriously, is rory badly written or are we supposed to hate her? i can't tell.

a big "hell yeah" on the last crappy Rory season +2. I don't think we're supposed to find it endearing... I think she's just being written terribly off base as some angsty annoying brat by a hack writer who either can't write, or likes to "spice up" established characters in unrealistic ways. Gilmore Girls is secretly funded by several agencies that are very anti-lone-parent, so maybe it's a not too subtle ploy to encourage shotgun marriages again. Yes, I'm joking about the last bit. I wish that Kate would get eaten by a wild monster. In fact, every time she is in mortal peril on that show, I yell "EAT KATE! EAT KATE!" at the television.

mike--but it's been funded from them since the beginning, and it was still awesome and much more wholesome then . . .

erin--me too!!!! i hope the hot chicks that are with the others take some of kate's spotlight.

So last night we moved into our new dump... (we've decided it's not just a diamond in the really-rough, it's a dump) and to our added horror the light switch by the front door doesn't control the outdoor light, it controls the outlet that all our TV stuff is plugged in to. Meaning: we haven't sucessfully recorded any shows this week, including VM, which were banking on to provide some much needed respite from the housing nightmare. it must repeat soon!! (Mike)

Mike-- if you're in the area VM repeats on Sunday at 7.
