Lois McMaster Bujold’s Penric and the Shaman
The second Pen and Des book is set a few years after the first, and finds Pen now fully accredited (or whatever) and teaming up with an investigator to track down a missing man and resolve a supernatural mystery. I do love the gods/worldbuilding in these!
