great essay; peirogies

Here is a thought-provoking essay by Heidi MacDonald (of Publisher's Weekly) about the current state of comics and comics snobs. I agree with most of her points and am looking forward to next year's Abel and Madden version of the Best American Comics anthology.

In other news, I'm eating dinner at a Pittsburgh-themed restaurant tonight. In Florida. Life never stops amazing me. I will probably even bring a camera.

i liked that essay. i think some of the commenters missed her point, that she wants variety in the comics canon, not one extreme or the other. some of the commenters were like, "nice article! i love dark horse, too!" and some were like, "i hate you! adrian tomine rocks!"

at any rate, she made me realize how little i know about some of these creators. i have been remiss in reading comics for a while, i need to get back into it.
