2010 book 212

Suzanne Collins' Mockingjay
I'll keep my comments brief and spoiler-free, because I know not all of you will have read it yet. :) Let me just say that, like the first two books, it's filled with unexpected moments, both grim and wonderful, and was a fully satisfying end to the series. A. I probably will read it again sometime soon--after I decompress.

I'm gonna give this a B+. Listening to The Hunger Games on audiobook right now, and I still like that one the best.

Do you think you would be terrified by this if you were a kid reading it or do you think kids have a higher tolerance for dark stories of this nature than adults do?

I don't know, I think I read some fairly dark stuff when I was a kid--I had a whole Stephen King phase, a James Patterson phase (that Kiss the Girls book is CREEPY), etc. Of course those weren't written with kids in mind, I just think kids can and will read darker books. I don't think it would have terrified me, but I think all the violence would have bothered me.

I have decided that kids can handle the dark stuff better than adults. I mean think about all of that creepy ass VC Andrews we all read!

Yeah, imagine if like My Sweet Audrina came out now--the media would be all over how crazy that book is. But I guess it was normal when we were kids. :)
