misc.

this intriguing news makes me glad i get hbo!!

everyone has already linked to the many j.k. rowling articles (dang, being on the road made me miss all the good news) but i'm still willing to bet that harry survives and that's all i'm gonna say about that! i'm pretty much just excited the book is due in 2007.

most importantly: what should i purchase with my $100 barnes and noble gift card?? SO MANY CHOICES!!!!!! i mean, should i just load up on hardbacks that i wouldn't normally be able to afford? paperbacks, so i can get more reading material? cookbooks? some really expensive book? i just can't decide.

apparently that news is wrong and there's no tv show in the works, but i did like preacher a lot and would recommend it with only a few reservations. it's pretty violent--occasionally, yes, gratuitiously so--but i think the larger themes and the compelling characters make up for it. i've never understood why it hasn't been marketed more heavily in the wake of the da vinci code hubbub--maybe b/c of the violence, or b/c it's a comic book, or b/c it would piss off the devout even more than da vinci code did.

hm, i should figure out which boxes my preacher comics are in and reread them!

i even have the preacher action figure (with light-up eyes!) so yeah, i'm a fan. :)

by the way, where did your blog go?
