I was going to make Hug from Magknits, but I haven['t found a yarn I like yet (any recommendations?). I want something supersimple so I can knit while I watch tv on dvd!
Hmm. If you were looking for something colorful (but a bit spendy) I'd say go for Noro Iro.
If you want something soft and pretty but not necessarily with automatic striping built in, try Misti Alpaca Bulky. Mmmm.
Seriously, I'd just wander down to the yarn store, check out their bulky yarns, and see which of 'em had a color I was interested in. That's how I ended up with that muted green Rowan Soft Tweed for my "anthropologie capelet" minisweater.
