bsg finale

I (mostly) totally loved the BSG finale--but I had a few qualms/questions when it was all said and done. Spoilers in the comments!

OK, I know the starts of comments post in the sidebar, so I'll start off with some gobbledygook and SPOILER warnings.

Anyway, here were some thigns I had questions about:

--When Adama flew off w/ dying Laura, why did Lee and Kara say he wasn't coming back? He certainly seemed healthy enough--was it just that his broken heart made him want to be alone forever (like Tyrol)?

--So, WAS Kara an angel? But one that everyone could see (as opposed to Caprica and Baltar)? Was the cylon Daniel her father or what? Also, I hated the Kara/Lee flashback--it was so obvious what'd happen once Zack passed out, but I hated it. Who really ever gets drunk enough to hook up w/ their brother's girlfriend/boyfriend's brother? Of course I always hated Lee and Kara together and never bought that they had some magical attraction.

--Why did Cavil shoot himself in the CIC? Did he really think the cylons were done?

Otherwise, like I said, I really enjoyed it.

i was pleased. the last couple of seasons have been so larded with ideas that i've been completely confused. maybe i need to watch a marathon of the whole series to make connections. it feels like eons ago that i watched the miniseries.

i think the reason why adama left is because the plan was for everyone to spread out so they could help the neanderthals develop speech and technology and stuff. also, i think he just wanted to be alone with his girl and just chill till the next episode.

i've always found tyrol to be the series' most tragic, and simply unlucky, character. i think his decision to go off and be by himself, frankenstein's monster-style, was a fitting coda to him. you can see why he'd be sick of people.

yeah, i think the idea is that kara was an angel but one whom everybody could see. i am confused about the whole daniel thing, so i'll punt on that.

maybe cavil was hoping that the resurrection capabilities went through before tyrol snapped tori's neck? (which, by the way, she deserved, and i was eagerly anticipating this when they said they were going to find out everything about each other when they put their hands in the goo.) maybe he'd rather go out on his own terms than have some lowly human kill him? that did seem rather abrupt.

i am excited about "caprica" and the 2 hour movie from the cylons' perspective in the fall! eric stoltz is my favorite actor named eric.

I was reading Alan Sepinwall's entry on the finale (it's long) and he did answer some of those questions--apparently Daniel was never intended to be Kara's father. Also, after reading it, I wonder if Cavil killed himself b/c he knew the other cylons and their ship would get sucked into the black hole? He knew the resurrection stuff hadn't gone through completely.

I think my questions re: Adama were, what about everyone else he loved (Lee, Tigh)? Certainly he could have joined one of their little villages--he's just one dude. But I can see how after everything he'd want to just hang out on a mountain.

I totally agree w/ you on Tyrol. and I was glad Tory died--she was a very annoying and useless character, and such a coward.
