I just realized that only two of you read all the random things I share through Google reader, and maybe some of the rest of you would like them as well. So here are some recent things I've shared:
Kitchen Gadgets of the Future
Mind-blowing New Pornographers video (featuring Dan Bejar's hair)
Michael Chabon and Daniel Mendelsohn have a conversation, which reminds me I still need to read Mendelsohn's book.
Interview with George Romero about his new zombie movie (linked even though his previous movies, filmed in my hometown, gave me nightmares as a child)

that new pornos video is awesome!
I know!!!!! I want to buy it and put it on my ipod so I can watch it over and over.
Does this mean you're not reading my shared items? :)
interesting--are you reading mine?
this is the problem with google reader. i thought i disabled that function on both ends, but it sounds like i just disabled it on my end. it's not you--i don't give a crap if you know what i'm sharing--it's that the default is to have all of my gmail contacts know what i'm sharing. so this means if i've emailed my boss's gmail account at some point--which i did, when we set up a blog through blogger for a project--if he signed up for greader he would know what i was sharing. or, some random dude that i emailed once would know, too.
when i disabled it, you were the only one whose shared items i could see, but i got to thinking about the possibilities. maybe i'm being paranoid.
so that's a long answer. the short answer is, no, i'm not! i probably could configure things correctly, but it's hard enough to figure out (unsuccessfully, apparently) how to disable it for everyone, let alone refined customization like limiting it to certain people.
you dig?
Heh, I'm not offended--I just assumed if I could see yours, you could see mine. And I can see yours, by the way . . .
Well I am reading your shared items, but I have not shared any items myself yet. I get so overwhelmed with just reading what's there most of the time. Maybe one day soon I'll try sharing.
I look forward to your future shared items!
