baking gadgets

Here's a feature on some essentials for the home baker. I don't know that I really need a digital scale or a blowtorch, but I have been meaning to get most of these other items (except the stand mixer and the round cutters, which I am fortunate enough to own already).

Too bad none of their links actually work. :) (The Sur la Table site is always worth browsing, though.)

I highly highly recommend the silicone baking sheets; they keep cookies from spreading out and helps them cook all evenly and prettily. That's both vegan and non-vegan cookies; Matt's sister has been making everyone holiday cookies on them that look like they came from a professional bakery. They are just up your culinary alley :)

The digital scale would be handy for recipe ingredients measured by weight, which a lot of mine are for some reason. It's hard to measure out 8 oz of loose mushrooms on grocery store scales :\

Have fun!

A digital scale is actually at the top of my list o' things to buy for the kitchen. Stick blenders are fun , but I don't find I use mine very often. The Microplane, though, we use all the time. Nutmeg, ginger, parmigiana... and nothing I've ever used has done better at zesting lemons.
